Jon R. Banning

March 6, 1945 — December 21, 2007

Jon R. Banning, 62, formerly of East Moline and Silvis, died Friday, December 21, 2007, in Illinois Veterans Home, Quincy, Illinois, after an extended illness.

Funeral services are 11 a.m.Thursday at Trimble Funeral and Cremation Center, Coal Valley, with Pastor Karolyn Parsons officiating. Burial is in Glenwood Cemetery, Coal Valley. Visitation is one hour before the services.

Jon Robert Banning was born March 6, 1945, in Moline, the son of Joyce (White) and Harold Banning. He graduated from Moline High School in 1964, and served in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam War. He had worked at Buddy Boy Cab, Hydraxtor, and John Deere. He was an amateur artist and enjoyed music and model railroading.

John is survived by his brother and sister-in-law, H. Don and Marcia Banning of Coal Valley; his sister, Joy Banning of Carlsbad, California; and step-sisters and their husbands, Beverly and John Chrisop of Monticello, Indiana, Mary and Wayne Taube of Coal Valley, and Shirley and Ken Roehrs of Newberry, South Carolina. He was preceded in death by his parents, his step-mother, Ferne Banning, and a brother, Fred (Gene) Banning.
