Coal Valley, Illinois Services for Jon Hoskins, 58, of Coal Valley, Illinois, are 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Trimble Funeral Home, Coal Valley, with the Reverend Tim Snart officiating. Burial is in Coal Valley Cemetery. Visitation is 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to an educational fund which will be established for his grandchildren. Jon died suddenly Friday, October 31, 2003, in the emergency room at Trinity Medical Center, Moline. Dana Jon Hoskins was born March 21, 1945, in Moline, Illinois, the son of Vernon and Dorothy (Anderson) Hoskins. He married Sherry Maddox on June 25, 1966, in Coal Valley. He was a welder at J. I. Case in Burlington for 30 years, retiring in 2001. He loved antique engines and gas pumps, was a NASCAR fan, enjoyed fishing and was always helping his friends. His kids and grandkids were his pride and joy. Jon is survived by his wife, Sherry; a son. Chris Hoskins of Tamarac, Florida; a daughter, Deanna Grau of Orion; two grandchildren, Ashley and Hunter Grau of Orion; his parents, Dorothy and Vernon Hoskins of Coal Valley; a brother, Robert Hoskins of Coal Valley; and sisters and brothers-in-law, Kate Crane of Moline, Judy Blankenship of Moline, Connie and Jeff Hast of New Windsor, and Jean and Ed Beard of Chuma, New Mexico.
