Rock Island, Illinois Services for John W. Clarke, 92, of Rock Island, are 2 p.m. Wednesday at Trimble Funeral Home, Moline. Elder Paul Lindburg and Elder Ken Rundle will officiate. Burial is in Aledo Cemetery. Visitation is 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Trimble Funeral Home, Moline, where Aledo Lodge #252, AF & AM will conduct Masonic funeral services at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday. Memorials may be made to Community of Christ Church, Moline, or the Activities Fund at Heartland Health Care Center. Mr. Clarke died Sunday, March 31, 2002, in Heartland Health Care Center, Moline. He was born June 24, 1909, near Aledo, Illinois, the son of William H. and Adeline (Rathbun) Clarke. He married Winifred Welch on December 31, 1937, in Maquoketa, Iowa. He was an assembler at John Deere Plow-Planter Works, Moline, for 29 years, retiring in 1971. He was a 50-year member of Aledo Lodge #252, AF & AM, and attended Community of Christ Church, Moline. He loved being with people and helping people, and enjoyed yard work and gardening. John is survived by his wife of 64 years, Winifred; a brother, Robert F. Clarke of Alpha; four nieces and nephews and their spouses, Patricia and John Hemminger of Geneseo, Robert and Bette Clarke of Colona, Richard and Janice Clarke of Woodhull, and Diane and Cliff Vogel of Oshkosh, Wisconsin; and several great-nieces and great-nephews.
