John M. Resetich

John M. Resetich, 95, of Silvis, Illinois, died Wednesday, January 22, 2025, at Silvis Center for Nursing Rehab and Care. 

Private burial will be in Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline, under the direction of Trimble Funeral Home, Moline. Memorials may be made to ARC of the Quad Cities.

John Martin Resetich was born May 18, 1929, in East Moline, Illinois, the son of Ignatius and Jennie (O’Korn) Resetich. He graduated from East Moline High School (UTHS) in 1947 and went on to marry Marilyn Belowske on April 26, 1952, in Moline. She died November 13, 2023.

He worked at John Deere Harvester Production Engineering as a draftsman for 37 years. He was involved with various designs on tractor drawn combines and attachments. 

He started playing the accordion at 11 years old. He taught accordion lessons, played in local bands at a young age, and formed a polka band for 20 years with his wife, Marilyn, after retirement. 

He enjoyed the antique car hobby. He built a complete 1913 Model T Ford from parts he collected. He enjoyed summer vacations with the family and trips during retirement to other countries including visits to see relatives in Slovenia. John was a member of the Antique Automobile Club of America (AACA), Iowa Polka Club, Slovenian National Benefit Society, Vikings Club, and Geneseo Moose Club.

John is survived by three sons and daughters-in-law, Michael Resetich of Rock Island, Illinois, Mark and Anne Resetich of Hampton, Illinois, and Ross and Leanna Resetich of Muscatine, Iowa; four grandchildren, Kathryn (Blake) Reedy, Joseph Resetich, Cory Resetich, and Nick Resetich; and nine great-grandchildren, Violet, Max, Jolie, Jack, Roman, Brady, Addie, Nick and Blake. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Marilyn; and brothers, Louis and Albert Resetich.
