John M. Rowland

John M. Rowland, 71, of Knoxville, Illinois, died Saturday, January 22, 2022, at UnityPoint Health – Trinity Rock Island, Rock Island, Illinois.

A memorial service will be 3:00 p.m. Saturday January 29 at 3:00 p.m. at First United Methodist Church, 120 N Kellogg Street, Galesburg, Illinois. The family will greet friends from 2:00 p.m. until time of service. Cremation will take place at Trimble Crematory, Moline, under the direction of Trimble Funeral Home. Private burial is in Galesburg Memorial Park.

John Michael Rowland was born September 8, 1950, in Galesburg, Illinois, the son of William and Virginia (Johnson) Rowland. He married Carol Susan Weaver in August of 1973. She died in 2004.

He worked for Admiral/Maytag for over 30 years. After retiring, he went to work as a tow truck driver and really enjoyed it. He bowled and hunted in his younger years. He also enjoyed lunches at the Broadview, playing cards, playing bingo at the nursing home, and spending time with his family.

John is survived by four children, Michael Rowland of Fort Madison, Iowa, Jason (Patricia) Rowland of Ocala, Florida, Jeremy Rowland of Galesburg, and Melissa (Adam) Cleary of Coal Valley; six grandchildren, Damion Miller, Heaven Rowland, Jordan (Jacob) Rowland, and Christopher, Jake and Alexander Rowland; and three great-grandchildren, Levi Rowland, Aubriella Rowland, and Amelia Muckey (born the day after John passed away); his mother, Virginia Rowland of Kansas; and siblings, Jim Rowland, Mary Courson, Harry Rowland, and Steve Rowland. He was preceded in death by his father and wife, Carol Rowland.
