John Lee David Scheetz, 80, of Bettendorf, Iowa, died Monday, April 8, 2019, at Genesis Medical Center, Davenport, Iowa.
Services are 2:00 p.m. Sunday at Community of Hope Lutheran Church, 415 W 53rd Street, Davenport, Iowa. Cremation will take place prior to services at Trimble Crematory, Moline, under the direction of Trimble Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to the church.
John Lee David Scheetz was born November 28, 1938, in Iowa City, Iowa, the son of Raphel and Mary Elizabeth (Meyers) Scheetz. He married Paulette (Caldwell) Benke on November 28, 1998, in Bettendorf.
He attended the University of Iowa, and later graduated from the Hunter Healing Ministries as a licensed Pastor. He was a plumber and pipefitter for Pipefitter Union 669 for 23 years, retiring in 1991.
John enjoyed camping, playing games, and dancing (especially square-dancing). He was always helping those in need. Above all else, family was the most important thing to John, especially his granddaughters.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Paulette; a son and daughter-in-law, Thomas and Jennifer Scheetz of Bettendorf; two granddaughters, Sarah (Brody) Grothus, and Tayler (Ryan) Fick, both of Bettendorf; three step-sons, David Anderson of Davenport, Daniel (Jeanetta) Anderson of Pleasant Valley, Iowa, and Doug (Megan) Anderson of Kansas City, Missouri; nine step-grandchildren; a step-great-granddaughter; a brother, Ray (Selma) Scheetz of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; and a sister-in-law, Janet Scheetz. He was preceded in death by his parents, a son, Michael John Scheetz; and a brother, Matthew Scheetz.
