John L. Fritz, 72, of Moline, Illinois, well-known civil engineer, died Tuesday, August 14, 2007, in his home.
Trimble Funeral and Cremation Center, Moline, is entrusted with cremation arrangements. There will be no public services.
John Loren Fritz was born May 4, 1935, in Stitzer, Wisconsin, the son of John and Bertha Fritz. He married Dolores Palos Morford on December 30, 1966, in Moline. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.
John was a Civil Engineer for the State of Illinois for many years, retiring in 1991. During his career, he was Resident Chief Engineer on many local projects, including the I-280 bridge, the I-74 stretch through Moline, and the John Deere Expressway. After his retirement, he worked for various engineering firms and was currently employed by Missman-Stanley and Associates of Rock Island. He was a golf fanatic.
John is survived by his wife, Dolores; six children and their spouses, Steve and Rene Morford, Laura and Dennis Marion, and Paul and Karen Morford, all of Moline, Chris and Linda Morford of Scottsdale, Arizona, Dana and Carman Fritz of Rock Island, and Brad and Sue Fritz of Coal Valley; 12 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; one brother and two sisters. He was preceded in death by his son, Alan Morford, and one sister.
