Moline, Illinois John E. "Jack" Carter, age 81, of Moline, Illinois, died Wednesday, June 19, 2002 at his home. Funeral Services for Mr. Carter are 10:30 AM Monday at Trimble Funeral Home, Moline. Visitation will be Sunday from 3 to 5 PM with a Masonic Service at 5 PM, at the funeral home. Burial will be in National Cemetery on the Rock Island Arsenal Island. John Earl Carter Jr. was born December 19, 2002 in Winston Salem, North Carolina, the son of John Earl and Klella B. (Cave) Carter Sr. He married the former Helen J. "Janet" Thompson on April 1, 1944 in Bloomington, Illinois. She preceded him in death on June 5, 1984. Mr. Carter was employed as a Civil Engineer at the Rock Island Arsenal, served his country during WW II, as a Tech Sergeant in the U.S. Army. He was a member of Riverside United Methodist Church in Moline, the Blackhawk Hiking Club, Masonic Lodge 1014, Moline, where he was a past master. He was a world traveler, traveling on several occasions to; Spain, Morocco, Mexico, and several Middle Eastern Countries. He also enjoyed photography. Mr. Carters survivors include, daughter Nancy Carter of Berkeley, Califrornia; brother and sister-in-law, Tom and Minnette Carter; and a sister, Jill Ward all of Houston, Texas. He was a preceded in death by a brother-in-law, Richard Ward.
