John E. Griffin

John E. Griffin, 83, of Moline, Illinois, died Monday, March 7, 2016, in UnityPoint Health - Trinity Rock Island, Rock Island, Illinois.

A memorial service celebrating John's life will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, March 19, 2016, at Riverside United Methodist Church, Moline, with The Reverend Scott Carlson officiating. Visitation is 4 to 7 p.m. on Friday, March 18, 2016, in the Horizon Room at Trimble Funeral Home at Trimble Pointe, 701 12th Street, Moline. Cremation will take place at Trimble Crematory, and burial will be in Moline Memorial Park. Memorials may be made to Riverside United Methodist Youth Fellowship.

John Edwin Griffin was born December 1,1932, in Canton, Illinois, to Howard and Irene (Smith) Griffin. He married Kathlein Carol Wilde on September 29, 1961, in Moline. She died April 27, 2014. He was supervisor of hardware manufacturing for John Deere Plow Planter Works for 30 years, retiring in 1984. He then managed Super Clean Car Wash in Milan for 10 years.

John was an active member of Riverside United Methodist Church for many years, and was past chairman of the Official Board, past officer of United Methodist Men, Sunday school teacher and Youth Counselor and Youth Coordinator. He belonged to John Deere Retirees, and had been active in Irving School PTA, Dad's Club Baseball, and John Deere Junior High Band Parents.

John is survived by two children and their spouses, Deborah and Mark Senko of Moline, and John B. and Diane Griffin of Colorado Springs, Colorado; five grandchildren, Christopher and Matthew Senko, and Brooke, Kayla, and Lauren Griffin; and siblings and spouses, Lois and Darrell Parsons of Canton, Illinois, and Harold and Janet Griffin of Dunlap, Illinois.
