John D. “Jack” Miller, 55, of Rock Island, Illinois, died Wednesday, March 22, 2006, in his home.
Services are 1:00 p.m. Saturday, in the Celebration of Life Chapel at Trimble Funeral and Cremation Center, Coal Valley. Visitation is 11:00 a.m. until funeral time. Memorials may be made to the family.
Jack was born February 26, 1951, in Quincy, Illinois, the son of Forrest “Lee” and Mariam (McClean) Miller. He married Cindy Decker on July 24, 1990, in Rock Island.
Jack was a welder and quality control technician for 22 years at Norcross, formerly Servus Rubber, in Rock Island. He served as Union President for Servus Rubber. He tended bar at various taverns in the area, most recently at Town and Country Bowling Alley in 2004.
Jack enjoyed sports of all kinds, but especially the Bears and Cubs. He constantly teased his sister, Jill, for being a Cardinals fan. He really enjoyed playing foosball.
Jack is survived by a sister, Jill and Fred Mueller of Milan, Illinois; a brother, Bud and Lavon Miller of Rock Island; and three nieces and a nephew-in-law, Kelly and Rich Heidecke of Westmont, Illinois, Krystal Mueller of Oak Brook, Illinois, and Kristine Mueller of Chicago, Illinois. He was preceded in death by his parents. Mostly, he loved being with his special buddy, his dog, “Bubba”.
Jack will always be remembered for his witty personality. His most famous line was, “I’m never going to grow up!”
