John C. Turner

John Calvin "Cal" Turner, Sr., 77, of East Moline, Illinois, died Saturday, June 23, 2018, at St. Anthony's Nursing and Rehab Center, Rock Island, Illinois.

Cremation will be directed by Cremation Society of the Quad Cities, Moline. Private family services will be held, and interment will be at a later date. Memorials may be made to the family.

Cal was born July 26, 1940, in Greenville, South Carolina, to John D. and Ella Taylor Turner. He married Mary Loretta Kuykendall on December 11, 1957, in Six Mile, South Carolina. She preceded him in death on March 31, 2016. Cal was a roofer for local union 32 for 30 years.

He is survived by children and spouses, Kay and Mike Wheeler of Taylor Ridge, Illinois, Linda and Mark Hudson of Milan, Illinois, Cheryl Turner of Rock Island, Cindy and Adam Walker of Manchester, Tennessee, and John and Sarah Turner of Moline; 16 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; and siblings, Diane Young of Six Mile, and Gerald Turner of Pickens, South Carolina. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; a daughter, Shelvy Jean Bouldin; and siblings, Louise, Nancy, Ruth, Harold, Charles, and J.B.
