Johanna S. DiCiccio, 69, of Davenport, Iowa, passed away 15 years to the day after her beloved mother, Mitzi Smolinsky, on Friday, May 10, 2024, at UnityPoint Health – Trinity Rock Island, Rock Island, Illinois.

Services to celebrate Johanna’s life will be announced at a later date.  Cremation will take place at Trimble Crematory, Moline, under the direction of Trimble Funeral Home.

The former Johanna Smolinsky was born February 6, 1955, in Sewickley, Pennsylvania, the daughter of Mike “Sweitzer” and Mary “Mitzi” (Posega) Smolinsky.  She married the love of her life, Edmund “Ed” DiCiccio on April 25, 1981, in Ambridge, Pennsylvania.  She worked for the State of Pennsylvania unemployment office prior to moving to the Quad Cities with her husband.

She loved being at the beach, reading, and doing crossword puzzles.  She was an avid sports fan and especially loved the NCAA Tournament and Pittsburgh sports teams, most notably the Pittsburgh Steelers.  She also enjoyed spending time with her husband, Ed, and many close friends.

Johanna is survived by her loving husband, Ed; two brothers and sisters-in-las, Pete and Kay Smolinsky, Paul and Linda Smolinsky, and Jean Smolinsky; many good friends including Valerie Wales; her brother-in-law, David (Tina) DiCiccio; several nieces and nephews; and her special “friend”, Gamby.  She was preceded in death by her parents, and brother, Mike Smolinsky.
