Joe D. Breuwet

Joe D. Breuwet, 86, of Rock Island, Illinois, died Tuesday, May 10, 2016, at Hope Creek Care Center, East Moline, Illinois.

Cremation will take place at Trimble Crematory, Moline, under the direction of the Cremation Society of the Quad Cities. Burial will be in Rock Island National Cemetery.

Joe was born March 19, 1930, in Rock Island, the son of Harold and Melba (Morehouse) Breuwet. He graduated from Rock Island High School before going on to serve in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He married Donna Stibolt, who passed away. He later married Marita Strader.

He was employed at the Rock Island Mill Works for several years, later working at Kay Furniture Store in Rock Island and the Rock Island Argus newspaper. He was an avid bowler and enjoyed watching the Chicago Cubs. He was a member of the Andalusia Community Baptist Church.

Joe is survived by two sons, Scott and Lisa Breuwet of Garden Grove, Iowa, and Jack Verne Breuwet of Canton, Illinois, and grandchildren, Jacob and Hanna. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Thomas and Richard, and a sister, Joyce.
