JoAnn Nelsen

JoAnn Nelsen, 93, of Moline, Illinois, died Thursday, September 7, 2023, at Friendship Manor, in Rock Island, Illinois.

Services are 11 AM Thursday, September 14, 2023, at Elim Covenant Church, Moline, Illinois. Visitation is one hour prior to the service. Burial will take place following services at Rock Island National Cemetery, Rock Island, Illinois. A luncheon will be held following burial at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Elim Covenant Church or Youth Hope.

JoAnn was born November 8, 1929, in Decorah, Iowa, to Lester and Audra (Cullum) Mullen. She married Harold L. Nelsen on June 12, 1948, in Moline, Illinois. He died on November 5, 2003. She was a receptionist for Dr’s J.K. and J.O Hanson for 25 years.

She was a member of Elim Covenant Church of Moline, Illinois and was a volunteer at the Moline Activity Center. She enjoyed serving God’s Church and Family, participating in community service through the Activity Center, and was an avid reader.

JoAnn is survived by children, Steven (Theresa) Nelsen, Sally (Gregg) Lingenfelder, and Sheila (Don) Yoeckel; grandchildren, Matt Nelsen, Miranda (Dave) Vinar, Amy (Mike) Johnson, Aaron Lingenfelder, Ryan (Jessie) Yoeckel, Molly (Mike) Muller, and Doug (Katie) Yoeckel; and great-grandchildren, Ford, Finley, Adia, Makayla, Olivia, Gretchen, and Lily. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Nelsen; parents; brothers, Ted and John Mullen; and sisters, Pat Seyller and Shirley Warren.
