Joan S. Pierce, 64, of Wausau, Wisconsin, formerly of Moline, Illinois, died Wednesday, March 16, 2016, in Aspirus Hospice House, Wausau.

Visitation is 2 to 4:30 p.m. Sunday in the Horizon Room at Trimble Funeral Home at Trimble Pointe, 701 12th Street, Moline. A family led memorial service will follow at 4:30 p.m., after which friends are invited to join the family at a hospitality gathering at CityView Celebrations at Trimble Pointe. Cremation will take place at Trimble Crematory following the service. Additional visitation is 4 to 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday at Peterson-Kraemer Funeral Home, 1302 6th Street, Wausau, followed by a memorial service at 6:30 p.m. Memorials may be made to Aspirus Hospice House.

The former Joan Stephanie Larson was born August 24, 1951, to Richard and Karla (Koelz) Larson. She married Michael Alan Pierce on January 22, 1970, in East Lansing, Michigan. She graduated from Moline High School, and returned to college in her 40's and graduated from Trinity College of Nursing in 1996 with AARN degree, and later received National Orthopedic Nursing Certification. She was a registered nurse for Trinity Medical Center from 1996, until moving to Wausau in 2000, and then worked for Aspirus Wausau Hospital until 2014.

Joan renewed her interest in dance in her 50's, and became an accomplished social ballroom dancer who loved dancing fox trot, waltz, and rumba, and inspired others to take the dance floor and enjoy ballroom dancing. She was her husband's best friend and favorite fly fishing companion, and enjoyed cooking, sewing, traveling, photography, and spending time with her family.

Joan is survived by her husband, Michael; two children and their spouses, Richard H. and Laura Pierce of White Hall, Arkansas, and Sarah Jane and Mark Villanueva of Colorado Springs, Colorado; a granddaughter, Sophia Marie Villanueva; her parents, Karla Larson of East Moline, Illinois, and Richard Larson of Geneseo, Illinois; siblings and their spouses, Henry and Heide Larson of LeClaire, Iowa, Jennifer and Terry Strayhall of Geneseo, and Stephen Larson and Jack Zibert of Chicago, Illinois; and her mother-in-law, Bessie Pierce of Moline.
