Joan Potts, 83, of Moline, Illinois, died Saturday, August 6, 2016, in UnityPoint Health - Trinity Rock Island, Rock Island, Illinois.
Services are 11:00 a.m. Tuesday at Elim Covenant Church, Moline, with Reverend Steve Peterson officiating. Burial is in Rock Island National Cemetery. Visitation is one hour prior to services. Memorials may be made to the church or the Quad City Animal Welfare Center, Milan. The family is being served by Trimble Funeral Home & Crematory, Moline.
The former Stella Joan Unger was born September 23, 1932, in Galesburg, Illinois, the daughter of Hugh and Margaret (Bower) Unger. She married Rolland Potts on April 27, 1956, in Galesburg.
Joan worked as a switchboard operator for Burlington Northern Transport in Galesburg, and later as a receptionist for several medical practices in Denver and the Quad Cities.
She enjoyed reading mysteries, crocheting, walking, and horseback riding in her earlier years. Above all else, family was the most import thing to Joan. She loved taking family vacations and Friday night "date nights" with her husband and family.
Joan is survived by her husband of 60 years, Rollie; three children and their spouses, Kenneth and Kim Potts of Chillicothe, Illinois, Richard and Tammy Potts of Abingdon, Illinois, and Rebecca and Byron Reynolds of Moline; 10 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; siblings and their spouses, Charles and Susan Unger of Galesburg, Frank and Carol Unger of Knoxville, Illinois, Neil and Jan Unger, and Louise and Louie Doney, all of Galesburg; and many nieces and nephews.
