Jo Ann Stephens

Jo Ann Stephens, 60, of Davenport, Iowa, died Tuesday, May 23, 2023, at Allure/Heartland of Moline Nursing Home.

Viewing begins at 4:00 p.m. Friday, June 2, in the Horizon Room at Trimble Funeral Home at Trimble Pointe, 701 12th Street, Moline. The eulogy service begins at 4:30 p.m. with Rev. Scott Reece of River City Church officiating.  The eulogy service will be livestreamed. Jo Ann’s wishes were to be cremated.  Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society in lieu of flowers.

The former Jo Ann Llera was born December 28, 1962, in Miami, Florida, and adopted by Maria Alberto and Jose Llera.  She graduated from Our Lady of Lourdes Academy in 1980, and received her Bachelor’s degree in psychology from the University of Miami in 1986. She went on to marry John Stephens on November 23, 1996, in Coral Gables, Florida. Jo Ann earned her Master’s degree in 1996 and her PhD and PsyD degrees in Clinical Psychology in 2000 from the Miami Institute of Psychology (now Carlos Albizu University) with a concentration in Neuropsychology. She did her clinical internships with the Miami-Dade Public School System and the University of Miami Medical School Wein Memory Center.

Jo Ann worked over 10 years for Deer Oaks Mental Health as Regional Director over their 5-state upper Midwest region supervising over 60 psychologists and therapists, and she worked for them up to the time she became ill in 2022.

Jo Ann is survived by her husband John Stephens of Davenport, Iowa, two children, Michael Stephens of Davenport, Iowa, and Daniel Stephens of Davenport, Iowa and many cousins, nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her parents.
