Jerry L. Thurman

Jerry L. Thurman, 79, of Davenport, Iowa, passed away on Wednesday, January 15, 2025, at MercyOne Genesis Davenport Medical Center, surrounded by his loving family.

Services are 11:00 a.m. Monday, January 20, in the Horizon Room at Trimble Funeral Home at Trimble Pointe, with visitation one hour prior to services. The family invites everyone to dress casually. Private burial is in Rock Island National Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Moody Bible Institute, Tunnel to Towers Foundation, or Wounded Warrior Project.

Jerry Lee Thurman was born on September 25, 1945, in Davenport, Iowa, the son of Alvin and Leola (Ramm) Thurman. He graduated from Davenport West High School and served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Vietnam War. On December 4, 1965, he married the love of his life, Judith Ann Clark, in Artesia, California.

Jerry worked as a truck driver with the Teamsters Union for over 42 years, beginning with UPS and later retiring from Roadway Express in 2011.

A proud Marine Corps veteran, Jerry was a member of the Marine Corps League, Davenport VFW Post #828, Bettendorf Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter #776, and regularly attended VMFA-211 reunions. He loved traveling, cruising, and cherished every moment spent with his family.

Jerry is survived by his devoted wife of nearly 60 years, Judy; two children, Jody (Lisa) Thurman of Silvis, Illinois, and Shannon (George) Keckler of Davenport; five grandchildren, Joshua (Jessica) Thurman, Joseph Thurman, Briahna (Colton) Burge, Anthony Keckler, and Hannah Keckler; and great-grandchildren, Aidan, Laila, Ava, Jo, and Nolen Thurman, Andrew Burge, Brooks Mussmann, and Harlow Mussmann (due March 2025). He will also be missed by his loving dog and companion, Elle Mae. Jerry was preceded in death by his parents; his cherished daughter, Dawn Thurman; and two sisters, Peggy Forrester and Martha Knabe.
