Jeremiah E. "Jerry" Cronkleton, 73, of Coal Valley, Illinois, died Sunday, March 8, 2015, at Hope Creek Care Center, East Moline, Illinois.
Services are 10:00 a.m. Thursday at Trimble Funeral Home, Coal Valley, with The Reverend Jim DeBisschop officiating. Entombment is in the mausoleum at St. Mary's Cemetery, East Moline. Visitation is 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Wednesday. Memorials may be made to St. Maria Goretti, Catholic Church, Coal Valley, or the Rock Island Animal Care and Control Shelter, Moline.
Jerry was born July 30, 1941, in Davenport, Iowa, the son of Edward Ellis and Roseanne (King) Cronkleton. He married Marilyn VanDeVoorde on June 18, 1966, in Moline, Illinois.
He worked as a maintenance welder for John Deere Harvester Works in East Moline for 32 years, retiring in 1996.
Jerry was a member of the UAW Local 865 and F.O.E. Davenport #235. He enjoyed working in his garage, mainly on cars, going to car shows, watching NASCAR, and spending time with family and friends.
Jerry is survived by his wife, Marilyn Cronkleton of Coal Valley; a daughter, Colleen Cronkleton, her fiancé Mashair Henry, and their two sons, of Wauwatosa, Wisconsin; a son, Matthew Cronkleton and his fiancé, Kelly, of Anchor, Illinois; a brother, Dave Cronkleton of Davenport; several nieces and nephews; and his beloved dog, Mitzi. He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Sue Burchfield, and a brother, Stephen Cronkleton.
