Friends are invited to join the family at a funeral luncheon at CityView Celebrations at Trimble Pointe following the burial.
Born on August 1, 1926, in Letts, Iowa, Jeannette Mae Lieberknecht was the cherished daughter of Henry Arthur and Winifred (Shellabarger) Lieberknecht. She graduated from the University of Iowa and, on November 4, 1951, she married Truman K. Woodard in Letts. Truman preceded her in death on January 31, 1981.
Jeannette was a dedicated and active member of Riverside United Methodist Church, formerly First United Methodist Church, where she volunteered until she was 90. She also generously volunteered her time with Illinois Children and Family Services for many years.
Willful and independent, Jeannette was an avid reader and an adventurous traveler with a particular fondness for London, and she liked fine dining, theater and classical music. Later in life she focused on adventures closer to home, dining with friends, cooking, and spending time with family, both locally and virtually on weekly Zoom gatherings. An innate resourcefulness and technical proficiency enabled her to maintain ties with family and friends during a lengthy COVID lockdown. Family was her highest priority.
Jeannette is survived by her four children and their spouses, Missy and Bill Bailey of Ely, Minnesota, Craig and Susan Woodard of Moline, Eric Woodard of Punta Gorda, Florida, and Nicholas Woodard of Port Byron. She leaves behind five beloved grandchildren and their spouses: Jonathan Bailey, Laura (Dominik) Palowski, Mark (Kari Williams) Bailey, Matthew Ressler, and Catherine (Ryan) Mandle. Her legacy continues through eight cherished great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, as well as three sisters and one brother.
