Jeanette L. Kohl

Jeanette L. Kohl, 94, of Orion, Illinois, formerly of Rock Island, Illinois, died Sunday, February 28, 2016, in Hope Creek Care Center, East Moline, Illinois.

Services are 11:30 a.m. Wednesday in the Horizon Room at Trimble Funeral Home at Trimble Pointe, 701 12th Street, Moline, with The Reverend Roger Hungerford officiating. Burial will be 11:30 a.m. Thursday in Old Bethel Cemetery, near Sigourney, Iowa. Visitation is from 10:30 to 11:30 Wednesday. Following the services, friends are invited to join the family at a funeral luncheon at CityView Celebrations at Trimble Pointe.

Jeanette Boshart was born March 8, 1921, in rural Washington County, Iowa. She served in the Women's Army Corps during WW II. She married Russell Ferguson who died in 1945, and later married Robert Kohl, who died in 1989. She was employed in procurement at the Rock Island Arsenal for several years.

Jeanette loved quilting and belonged to several quilting groups, including Mississippi Valley Quilters. She was an active volunteer for several organizations including Habitat for Humanity, Project Now, Alternatives for Older Adults, and Martin Luther King Center.

Jeanette is survived by three children, Susan Tamaoki and her husband Lee of El Sobrante, California, Rita Thompson of Orion, Illinois, and Kenneth Kohl of Rock Island, Illinois; five grandchildren, Tony, Natalie and Julia Tamaoki, Ben Thompson, and Sondra Sierens; and two great-grandchildren, Austin and Aaron Bleyaert. She was preceded in death by her husbands, her mother, Grace Boshart, and a brother, Raymond Boshart.
