Jean E, Mullen

Jean E. Mullen, 92, formerly of Moline, Illinois, died Sunday, May 24, 2015, in Hope Creek Care Center, East Moline, Illinois.

Services are 11 a.m. Wednesday in the Horizon Room at Trimble Funeral Home at Trimble Pointe, 701 12th Street, Moline, with visitation one hour before the services. Burial is in Rock Island National Cemetery. Following the burial, friends are invited to join the family at a luncheon at CityView Celebrations at Trimble Pointe. Memorials may be made to Hope Creek Care Center.

The former Jean Evelyn Hayes was born August 25, 1922, in Franklin, Illinois, to Earl and Madge (Crawford) Hayes. She married Coy William Mullen on February 3, 1942, in St. Charles, Missouri. He died March 4, 1999. She worked at the former Woolworth stores in Moline and Rock Island. She was a former member of Riverside United Methodist Church, Moline, was an active participant in the Moline Activity Center, and volunteered at Alzheimer's Association and Oak Glen Home. She was an avid reader, enjoyed wintering in Florida, and loved walking, especially in the mall and on Florida beaches.

Jean is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Patricia and John Churuvia of Rock Island, and Penney and Mike Smith of Moline; four grandchildren and spouses, Jeff Churuvia, Andrea and Mike O'Leary, Stephen and Heather Smith, and Erin Smith; and three great-grandchildren, Alyson and Thomas O'Leary and Caroline Smith. She was preceded in death by her husband; brothers John and Lendell Hayes, and sister, Janis Seymour.
