Jean E. Blomberg

Jean E. Blomberg, 97, of Moline, Illinois, died Thursday, January 2, 2025, at Friendship Manor, Rock Island, Illinois. 

Services are 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, January 8, 2025, at First Lutheran Church, Moline, with Rev. Daniel Witkowski officiating. Visitation is one hour prior to services. Burial is in Rock Island National Cemetery. Trimble Funeral Home & Crematory, Moline, is entrusted with arrangements. Memorials may be made to the church.

The former Jean Elaine Larson was born January 21, 1927, in Davenport, Iowa, the daughter of Edwin and Lenore (Stewart) Larson. She graduated from Moline High School in 1945 and went on to marry the love of her life, Robert Lee Blomberg on June 18, 1955, at First Lutheran Church, Moline. He passed away in 1987. 

Jean attended Augustana College before becoming an executive secretary at Iowa-Illinois Gas and Electric Company. She was a longtime member of First Lutheran Church, PEO, King’s Daughters, and Short Hills Country Club. She enjoyed traveling and golfing. Prior to moving there, she served on the board and volunteered at Friendship Manor, helping run the gift shop. In recent years, she looked forward to visits from her daughter, son-in-law, and their labradoodle, Cozy.

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Kimberlee (Larry Covents) Blomberg-Covents of Moline; her sister, Nancy Wynn of Taylor Ridge, Illinois, and nephews, Matthew (Kay) Wynn, Christopher (Gina) Wynn, David (Susan) Wynn, and Daniel (Kris) Wynn. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Bob; and a brother-in-law, Larry Wynn.
