Jane A. Reyes, 82, of Moline, Illinois, died Monday, January 27, 2025, at Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House, Bettendorf, Iowa.
Mass of Christian Burial is 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, February 4, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Moline, with Father Antonio Dittmer officiating. Visitation is 4:30 to 7:00 p.m. Monday in the Horizon Room at Trimble Funeral Home at Trimble Pointe, 701 12th Street, Moline, with a Rosary at 4:00 p.m. Burial is in Rock Island National Cemetery. Memorials may be made to St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Moline.
Jane was born March 24, 1942, in Galesburg, Illinois, the daughter of Eulalio and Guadalupe (Perez) Ramirez. She married the love of her life, Genaro Reyes, on August 5, 1972, in Galesburg. The couple shared over 52 years together.
Her life was devoted to helping others, both as a teacher and as the matriarch of her family. She earned her bachelor’s degree from Marycrest College in Davenport and went on to earn her master’s degree from Western Illinois University. She spent 30 years teaching 3rd grade in the Davenport School District, retiring in 1999.
She enjoyed word searches, watching tv, music and dancing, watching sports, and going to the theater and movies. Above all else, family was the most important thing to her, especially her pride and joy, grandson, Jude.
Jane is survived by her beloved husband, Genaro; two children, Gina (David) Ellison of Moline, and Jaime (Jennifer) Reyes of Bettendorf; her grandson, Jude Reyes; and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by 12 siblings, Sanjuanita Gonzalez, Eusebio Ramirez, Eulalio Ramirez, Cecil Ramirez, Theodore Ramirez, Loreto Ramirez, Jesse Ramirez, Teresa Ramirez, Carmen Ramirez, Mary Lou Gonzalez, Guadalupe Ramirez, and Antonio Ramirez.
