James Robert Nicholson

June 18, 1947 — November 10, 2022

James Robert Nicholson, 75, of Moline, Illinois, passed away Thursday, November 10, 2022, at home.


Private burial will take place at Rock Island National Cemetery. Prior to burial cremation will take place at Trimble Funeral Home and Crematory, 701 12th Street, Moline. Memorials may be made to St. Jude Hospital.


James Nicholson was born June 18, 1947, in Moline, to James Hinton and Lorraine Nicholson. He graduated from Moline High School and following graduation joined the United States Army.


After the Army he started working at Harley Davidson then opened his own motorcycle shop, Jim’s Cycle Works, in 1984. He was a great friend and described as being the go-to guy for many people. His willingness to help people in need and his loyalty to friends and family was unmatched.


He enjoyed many things such as working on and riding his motorcycles, playing pool, reading, cutting down trees and splitting the wood, and spending time with family and friends.


James was the proud father of Julie Humphreys, doting grandpa and great grandpa to Kirsten and Kensleigh, brother to David Nicholson, and uncle to Christian (Kathleen) Colbert and Lisa Colbert. He is preceded in death by his grandparents; biological father, James Hinton; mother, Lorraine Nicholson; father, Jack Nicholson; and sister, Cheryl Colbert.
