James R. “Jimmy” Campbell, 69, of Colona, Illinois, died Sunday, August 30, 2020, at his daughter’s home in Coal Valley, Illinois.
There will be a private family gathering. Cremation will take place at Trimble Crematory, Moline, under the direction of the Cremation Society of the Quad Cities.
James Richard Campbell was born September 9, 1950, in Moline, the son of Richard and Audrey (Kerr) Campbell.
Jim worked for many years at Campbell’s Plastering and then as a self-employed contractor. He enjoyed being in his garden, Nascar races, spending time with his grandkids, nieces, and nephews. He was an avid fisherman, and his favorite past-time was to watch the Cubs games with his mom.
Jim is survived by his mother, Audrey Campbell in Colona; two daughters, Jodie Campbell of Coal Valley, and Justine (Andy) Meier of Prophetstown, Illinois; his sisters Jill (Roger) Harris of East Moline, Joey (Bob) Bolin of Woodhull, Jackie Campbell (and Ron); 4 grandchildren, Danielle Vairo, Nathan Gengler, Lexi Besse and Ashton Meier; 6 great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his father, Richard Campbell, his brother, Jerry Campbell, and his sister, Janet Jones.
The family would like to thank the Colona emergency team, Genesis Hospital Silvis, Illinois, OSF in Peoria, and Heartland Hospice in Davenport, Iowa, for taking care of him. We appreciate all of you.
