James H. Midgett Sr.

James H. Midgett Sr., 87, of Moline, Illinois, died Wednesday, April 10, 2024, at home.

Graveside services are 10:30 a.m., Monday, April 22, 2024, at Rock Island National Cemetery. Those wishing to attend should meet at 10:15 a.m. at Trimble Pointe, 701 12^th Street, Moline, Illinois. Following Services there will be a gathering with refreshments at Moline Bethel Wesley Church, 1201 13^th Street, Moline, Illinois. 

James Hendrix Midgett Sr. was born July 5, 1936, to Eugene and Dorothy (Garretson) Midgett, in Mineola, New York. He married Linda Swank on May 26, 1985, in Davenport, Iowa. James worked at the Department of Defense for over 40 years and was also a member of the Navy Reserves. 

He enjoyed boxing, spending time with his cats, doing crossword puzzles, and rooting on the Chicago Cubs.

James is survived by his wife, Linda Midgett; his children, James Midgett Jr., Carol (Ron) Parker, and Joseph Midgett; his grandchildren, Brandon Midgett, and Aaron Parker; and his great-granddaughter, Reigniee Parker. He is preceded in death by his parents, Eugene and Dorothy Midgett; and the mother of his children, Nellie Tart
