James ?Ed? Finley, 84 of Silvis, formerly of Moline, died, Sunday, February 27, 2005, at University Hospitals, Iowa City, IA.
Services are 1:30 p.m.Thursday in the Celebration of Life Chapel at Trimble Funeral and Cremation Center, Moline. Visitation will be Wednesday from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in Hampton Township Cemetery. Memorials may be given to Elim Covenant Church.
James Edward Finley was born March 7, 1920 in East Moline, the son of James Kenneth and Tennie (Rice) Finley. He graduated from East Moline High School class of 1938. He married the former Ruth Marie Nicholson, September 27, 1941 in East Moline.
Ed was employed for 30 years at Ametek, in East Moline. He then retired as a tool & die maker from the John Deere Harvester Works in East Moline in 1985 after 8 years of employment. He served in the United States Navy during World War II, in Fort Worth, Texas, as an aircraft mechanic.
Ed enjoyed the outdoors, fishing, and going on family camping vacations, as well as spending time with his family and friends.
Survivors include his wife Ruth, three sons and their spouses, Jerald Finley of Westcliffe, Colorado, Daniel and Jacquelyn Finley of Madison, Wisconsin, and David and Nancy Finley of Colorado Springs, Colorado, four grandchildren and spouses, Eric and Kristine Finley, Jennifer and Larry Krambeck, Hayley Finley, and Connor Finley, three great-grandchildren, Evan Finley, Andrew Snyder, and Audrey Krambeck, two sisters and a brother-in-law, Juanita Farmer of Carbon Cliff, and Betty and Don Pfau of Hampton. He was preceded in death by a brother, Kenneth Finley.
