James M. “Dino” Dean, 76, of Rock Island, Illinois, died Saturday, February 15, 2025, at home.
A gathering to celebrate Dino’s life will be 1:00 to 5:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 5, 2025 at the Friends Circle Club, 701 18tth Ave, Moline. Cremation will take place at Trimble Crematory, Moline, Illinois, under the direction of Cremation Society of the Quad Cities. Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
James Michael Dean was born September 8, 1948, in San Francisco, California, the son of Quentin and Margaret (Delaney) Dean. He married the love of his life, Kathy Luther, on April 7, 1979, in Rock Island.
Dino worked for The Chrome Shop in Rock Island as a polisher for over 35 years, retiring in 2010. He enjoyed motorcycling and playing pool, and was known to enjoy drinking Strawberry Hill.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Kathy; two children, Melanie Scott of Rock Island, and James Q. (RaShell) Dean of Davenport, Iowa; a step-son, Robert Staley of Milan, Illinois; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and siblings, Karen (Ed) Keegan and Paul (Johnna) Dean, both of California. He was preceded in death by his father, Quentin Dean; and mother, Margaret Carr.
