James D. Johnson, 89, of Moline, Illinois, died Thursday, May 17, 2012, in Hope Creek Care Center, East Moline, Illinois.
Services are 10:30 a.m. Monday in the Celebration of Life Chapel at Trimble Funeral and Cremation Center, Moline, with The Reverend Dr. Mark Gehrke officiating. Burial is in Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline. Visitation is 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Hope Creek Activity Fund or Faith Lutheran Church.
James Dwight Johnson was born February 28, 1923, in Moline, the son of Fred F. and Florence Wagner Johnson. He married Betty Louise Steele on September 5, 1948, in Rock Island, Illinois. She died November 15, 1994. He was was employed at East Moline Metal Products for 34 years retiring as Vice President of Sales, and previously worked at George Evans Corporation for ten years. He was a member of Faith Lutheran Church, Moline, and enjoyed golf, fishing, and pool.
Jim is survived by two children and their spouses, Deborah and Edward Dixon of Taylor Ridge, Illinois, and Timothy and Julie Johnson of Hampton, Illinois; a son-in-law, Eugene Chrz of Prior Lake, Minnesota; 12 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife; a daughter, Diana Chrz; two sisters; and two brothers.
