Jacob J. Hardi, 96, of Washington, Missouri, formerly of Moline, Illinois, died Wednesday, August 29, 2007, in Grandview Nursing Home, Washington.
The Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, September 1, 2007, at St. Maria Goretti Catholic Church, Coal Valley. Visitation is 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday at Trimble Funeral and Cremation Center. A Wake Service will be held at the funeral home at 5:00 p.m. Friday. Burial is in St. Mary?s Catholic Cemetery, East Moline. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or the American Heart Association.
Jacob John Hardi was born April 30, 1911, in Davenport, Iowa, the son of Nickolas and Helen (Golub) Hardi. He married Louise Esther Bennett on May 20, 1937, in East Moline. She died April 24, 2004.
Jacob worked 43 years as a precision tool grinder for John Deere Harvester in East Moline, retiring in the late 1960?s. He and his wife were charter members of St. Maria Goretti Catholic Church. He was a lifetime member of the UAW.
Jacob enjoyed woodworking, golfing, bowling, traveling, and playing uno.
He is survived by his children and their spouses, Don and Pam Hardi of Montague, CA, Illene and Thomas Hunter of Davisville, MO, Carol and John Nortman of Ballwin, MO, and Diana and Ed Marshall of Cottonwood, CA, 14 grandchildren, 17, great-grandchildren, four great-great-grandchildren, a sister, Polly Montgomery, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, two grandsons, a great-granddaughter, four brothers, and two sisters.
