Jack D. Gentry, 86, of Silvis, Illinois, died Friday, May 24, 2019, at New Perspectives in Silvis.

Graveside services are 12:30 p.m. Friday at Rock Island National Cemetery, where the Moline American Legion Post #246 will present military honors. Those wishing to attend should meet in the parking lot at Trimble Pointe at 12:15 p.m. Cremation will take place at Trimble Crematory, Moline, under the direction of Trimble Funeral Home.

Jack was born September 12, 1932, in Atkinson, Illinois, the son of Ralph and Ruth (DeWolf) Gentry. He married Elaine Cosner on January 26, 1969, in Sterling, Illinois. He worked as a truck driver for 25 years, retiring in 1995.

Jack is survived by his beloved wife of 50-years, Elaine Gentry; children, Bonnie (John) DeMarlie of Manlius, Illinois, Carol (Allen) Deyoe of Orion, Illinois, Susan (Mark) Vaughn of Sherrard, Illinois, and David Peterson of Mendota, Minnesota; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and siblings, Winiford (Ruth) Gentry, Roy Gentry, Richard (Pat) Gentry, Keith (Sandra) Gentry, Jim (Audrey) Gentry, and Sheryl (Mike) Lewsader; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a brother, Raymond Gentry; a sister, Connie Edwards; and a step-daughter, Linda Staples.
