Jack Carius, 84, of Geneseo, Illinois, died Friday, February 22, 2019, at Illini Restorative Care, Silvis, Illinois.

Services are 11:00 a.m. Wednesday in the Horizon Room at Trimble Funeral Home at Trimble Pointe, 701 12th Street, Moline. Friends are invited to join the family for a hospitality luncheon immediately following services at CityView Celebrations, in the lower level of Trimble Pointe. Cremation will take place prior to services at Trimble Crematory. Memorials may be made to First Lutheran Church, Geneseo, or to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.

Jack was born June 30, 1934, in Moline, Illinois, the son of Henry R. and Virginia (Roman) Carius. He graduated from Moline High School in 1952, and married Beverly Strosahl on June 5, 1954.

He was a paperboy for the Moline Dispatch from the time he was old enough to do so until in high school, when he went to work for Chicago Butchers Grocery Store. He worked for the Rock Island Arsenal for several years and farmed in Cordova, Illinois. He went on to work for John Deere Dubuque Works for 27 years, retiring in 1986.

After retirement, Jack and Bev moved to Minnesota. They lived on a lake where Jack could fish whenever he wanted. They moved back to Geneseo in 1996. He was a member of First Lutheran Church, Geneseo, and enjoyed fishing, equipment tinkering and building, and painting.

Jack is survived by his beloved wife of nearly 65 years, Beverly; three sons, Russell (Patti) Carius of Benton, Wisconsin, Wesley (MaryAnne) Carius of Geneseo, and Jeffery Carius of Geneseo; a "special daughter", Christi Pfieffer of Mountain Lake, Minnesota; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Billy and Tom Carius.
