Harvey J. Tadewald, 94, of Moline, Illinois, retired Deere and Company executive, died Monday, November 5, 2007, in his residence.
Services are 11 a.m. Thursday, November 15, 2007, in the Celebration of Life Chapel at Trimble Funeral and Cremation Center, Moline, with visitation one hour before the services. He will be cremated and entombment will be in Riverside Mausoleum. Memorials may be made to Trinity Pathway Hospice or Heartland Christian Church, Sebring, Florida.
Mr. Tadewald was born November 26, 1912, in VanTassell, Wyoming, to Herman and Bertha Blanche (Caple) Tadewald. He married Dorothy Wicall on Apri1 6, l935, in Galena, Illinois. Dorothy preceded him in death on January 17, 1983. He married Patricia Lindblom Keith on November 26, 1988, in Moline. He graduated from Indra Business College, Moline, II.
Mr. Tadewald spent most of his working life with Deere & Company, retiring in 1978 as Corporate Manager of Industrial Engineering at the Corporate Headquarters in Moline, after 48 years with the company. Upon his retirement, he formed his own consulting firm , Tadewald Consultants in Moline?s Fifth Avenue Building.
He was a member of the Advisory Board at Texas Tech University, Lubbock, Texas. He was an avid hunter, fisherman and golfer. He was also a sports fan of the Chicago Bears & Cubs. He loved to winter at his home in Sebring, Florida, and helped start Heartland Christian Church. He was a member of the Moline Elks Lodge #556 since 1967, a long time member of Short Hills Country Club, East Moline, and a member of First Congregational Church, Moline. He loved his two dachshunds, Snicklefritz and Heine, who were a big part of his life.
He is survived by his wife, Patricia; stepchildren and their spouses, Julie and Mike Daniels of Salina, Kansas. Tim and Ellen Keith of Sugar Grove, Illinois, Wendie Wyatt and Cindy and Paul Davis of Moline. 11 step-grandchildren and two step-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by sons, Robert and Charles "Chuck" Tadewald, and a brother, Charles H. Tadewald.
