Jonathan Perry Deeter, 88, of Coal Valley, Illinois, formerly of Dayton, Ohio, died Tuesday, February 2, 2016, in his home.
A memorial service will be held later in Dayton. Cremation will take place at Trimble Crematory, and burial will be in Dayton National Cemetery. Trimble Funeral Home, Coal Valley in serving the family.
Jonathan Perry Deeter was born March 5, 1927, in Brookville, Ohio, to Jesse Montgomery and Ada Florence (Garber) Deeter. He married Merle Ruth Hufziger on June 16, 1946, in Dayton. Perry served in the U. S. Navy during WW II. He retired as bookkeeper at Black Electric in Brookville, after 15 years. He previously worked at NCR for 29 years. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Coal Valley, and previously was active in the Brethren Church wherever he lived.
Perry is survived by his wife of 70 years, Merle; five children and their spouses, Carol and Jim Geaslen of Vandalia, Ohio, Elaine and Charles Breiner of Strasburg, Virginia, Dr. David and Karen Deeter of Coal Valley, Daniel Deeter of West Branch, Iowa, and Donna and Michael Foudray of Brookville; 12 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren.
