Helen J. Lindquist, 88, of Moline, Illinois, passed away Sunday, January 27, 2008, at Trinity Pathway Hospice at Trinity Medical Center, Rock Island.
Services are 11 a.m. Wednesday in the Celebration of Life Chapel at Trimble Funeral and Cremation Center, Moline, with The Reverend Jay Regennitter officiating. Burial is in Rock Island National Cemetery on Arsenal Island. Visitation is 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday and from 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Riverside United Methodist Church, Trinity Pathway Hospice, Illinois Heart Association, or American Cancer Society.
The former Helen Joy Metz was born September 26, 1919, in Springfield, Illinois, to Freeman and Beulah (Harris) Metz. She graduated from Rockford High School and moved to Moline in 1936. On October 19, 1941, she married Richard ?Pete? Lindquist at First United Methodist Church in Moline.
Helen was a mother, homemaker, scout leader, and an active member of Riverside United Methodist Church since March 2,1937. She loved to play cards, was active in several church circles, and enjoyed her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Helen was manager of the Eloise Warren Gift Shop at the Quad-City Airport from 1954 to 1977.
Survivors include a son and daughter-in-taw, Bob and Ann Lindquist of Sister Bay, Wisconsin; a daughter, Patricia Kirkland of Rock Island; four grandsons; and six great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard "Pete" Lindquist, her parents, and a brother, H. R. ?Bob? Metz.
