Edward J. Casper, 87, of Moline, Illinois, left this life peacefully with his family at his side, on Wednesday, March 10, 2010, in Select Specialty Hospital, Davenport, Iowa.
Visitation is 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Trimble Funeral and Cremation Center, Moline. Funeral services are 2 p.m. Saturday at the United Methodist Church in Scales Mound, Illinois, with visitation one hour prior to the services. Burial is in Scales Mound Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the family.
Edward Joseph Casper was born October 7, 1922, in Scales Mound, the son of Merrill and Josephine Saam Casper. He served in the U. S. Army in the European Theater during WW II. He married Dorene Mae Rogers on September 6, 1947, in Galena, Illinois. She died July 23, 2009. He was an industrial engineer at Eagle Signal Company, Davenport, for over 30 years, retiring in 1984.
He was a member of East End Club, Friends Circle Club, and the Management Club at Eagle Signal. He enjoyed cards, camping, farming, and watching sports on television.
Ed is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Terry and Patricia Casper of Joliet, Illinois, and Curtis and Paula Casper of West Branch, Iowa; ten grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and a brother-in-law, David L. Rogers of Scales Mound. He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorene, his parents, and brothers Charles and Clovis Casper.
