Iva Frances Bryant

Iva "Frances" (Shearer) Bryant, 76, passed away on September 1, 2017 in the hospital, due to complications stemming from a stroke in February 2017, and immediate complications from pneumonia.

Frances was born August 23, 1941 in Nicholasville, KY, to Nellie Mae (Spaulding) Shearer and John Ealy Shearer. The family name was changed from Shearer to Sherrow in the mid-1900s to facilitate mail differentiation between the many John Shearers of the area at the time.

She met Dennis "Jason" L. Bryant in Lexington, Ky. They married in 1975 in Florida, and later returned to his home place of Mattoon, IL and continued raising their children there. Dennis preceded her in death in 1998.

Her parents, 1 son, 1 daughter, 2 grandchildren, 1 sister, and 1 brother also precede her in death.

Survivors include 4 children, Ted Brothers, Jerry (Laurie) Brothers, Maylena Bryant (Craig), and Jason Lee Bryant; 3 sisters, Janey (Roy) Monson, Hazel Lunsford (Roger), Louise (Charles) Barlow, and 1 brother, Don (Jean) Sherrow; as well as many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Frances was a Christian and last attended Shiloh Presbyterian Church in Virginia, IL, near where she resided with her daughter Maylena.

Trimble Funeral home in Moline, IL will be performing the cremation. A private memorial service is being organized by her loved ones. As she wished, some of her ashes will be placed with her husband in Dodge Grove Cemetery, Mattoon, IL, and with her mother in Maple Grove Cemetery, Nicholasville, Ky.
