Irene E. Hanson

Irene E. Hanson, 92, of Moline, Illinois, died Saturday, December 19, 2015, in Moline.

Services are 11:00 a.m. Tuesday in the Horizon Room at Trimble Funeral Home at Trimble Pointe, 701 12th Street, Moline, with The Reverend Scott Carlson officiating. Burial is in Rock Island National Cemetery. Visitation is one hour prior to services. Following the burial, friends are invited to join the family at a funeral luncheon at CityView Celebrations at Trimble Pointe. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or Loras College.

The former Irene Elizabeth Loring was born December 24, 1922, in Industry, Illinois, the daughter of Will and Naomi (Gunning) Loring. She married Raymond A. Hanson in 1948, in Moline. He died June 7, 1999.

Irene worked as a waitress in the Prime Rib Room at the LeClaire Hotel in Moline for 20 years, retiring in 1982. Previously, she had worked at J.C. Penney in downtown Moline.

She was a member of Riverside United Methodist Church, Moline, the Clara Lodge No. 118 of the I.O.V., In His Name Circle of King's Daughters, and the VFW and American Legion Auxiliaries. She enjoyed playing euchre and bingo, traveling, and volunteering at the King's Daughters Thrift Shop. She was famous for her peanut butter fudge, divinity, and potato chip cookies.

Irene is survived by three children and their spouses, Dennis Hanson of Moline, Denise and Lorren Gidel of Moline, and Kenneth and Sewellyn Hanson of Davenport, Iowa; grandchildren, Jeff Rivera and Lindsey Gidel, both of Moline; and a brother and sister-in-law, Robert and Joan Loring of Macomb. She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond, a brother, Fred Loring, and many friends.
