Irene Christine Youngberg

Services for Irene C. Youngberg, age 97 of Geneseo, formerly of Andover and Cambridge, Illinois, are 11 AM Saturday at Cambridge Lutheran Church, Cambridge, Illinois, where she was a member. Burial is in Andover Cemetery, Andover, Illinois. Visitation is one hour prior to the service. Memorials may be made to the church or to WDLM Radio Station. Mrs. Youngberg died Tuesday, March 26, 2002 at Hammond-Henry Hospital in Geneseo, Illinois. The former Irene Christine Swanson was born April 16, 1904 in Lynn Center, Illinois the daughter of Carl and Antelia (Peterson) Swanson. She married Clarence F. Youngberg on February 25, 1928 in Andover, Illinois. He died in 1970. Irene loved her church and it was a very important part of her life. She loved her friends, reading, homemaking, and listening to religious music. She was also a member of WELCA at Cambridge Lutheran Church. Irene is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Shirley and Richard Halverson of Mesa, Arizona; her son and daughter-in-law, Donald and Barbara Youngberg of Moline; four grandchildren and their spouses, Kirsten and Mark Passalino, Debbie and Terry DeMeyer, Nancy Rockwell, and David and Linda Halverson; three great-grandchildren; along with her sister, Desyl and Robert Bloom of Moline. Irene was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, June Hultgren; and two brothers, Glenn and Sherman Swanson.
