Services for Howard F. Armstrong, 68, of Moline, Illinois, are being held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, March 25th, at Trimble Funeral Home, Moline. Burial will follow services at Riverside Cemetery, Moline. Visitation will be on Wednesday, March 24th, from 4 to 8 p.m. at Trimble Funeral Home, Moline. Memorials may be made to the American Asthma Foundation.
Mr. Armstrong died Monday, March 22, 2004, at Trinity West Medical Center, Rock Island.
He was born October 22, 1935, in Wauseon, Ohio, the only son of William and Mary (Martin) Armstrong. He married Betty Ann Andrews on March 24, 1973, in Milan, Illinois. He was employed at the Quad City International Airport. Mr. Armstrong was considered a "Jack-of-all-trades" by all those who knew him best. He enjoyed woodworking, tinkering with cars, horseback riding, boating, working in the yard, playing cards, and listening to old country songs.
Howard is survived by his wife, Betty Ann, seven children and their spouses, thirteen grandchildren and one great-grandson. Daughters and spouses include Ann & Ed Becker, Sharon & Jim Annett, and Betty Armstrong all of Oregon; Barbara & Andrew Spencer of Bettendorf, IA; Debra & Bryan Wahlberg of Algonquin, IL; Carrie & Josh Jungwirth of Coal Valley, IL; and only son, Jeff Armstrong of Canby, OR. He was preceded in death by his parents and two half-brothers.
