Howard D. Deitz

Rock Island, Illinois Services for Howard D. Deitz, 72, of Rock Island, are 10 a.m. Wednesday at Edgewood Baptist Church, Rock Island. Burial is 1 p.m. Wednesday in Tampico Memorial Cemetery, Tampico, Illinois. Visitation is 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Trimble Funeral and Cremation Center, Moline. Memorials may be made to the church. Mr. Deitz died Friday, September 3, 2004, in his home. He was born September 26, 1931, in Tampico, the son of Lloyd and Julia Janet (Batten) Deitz. He married Loretta Barlett Priest on June 6, 1981, in Rock Island. He was a tool designer for Caterpillar in Mount Joy, Iowa, for 12 years, retiring in 1989. He then worked at Reynolds Engineering and Bonett Wholesale Florist. He owned and operated the former Quad City Limousine Service, Inc. from 1982 to 1985. He had his private pilot's license since 1976, and was a member of the Aeronautical Owners Pilots Association and Edgewood Baptist Church. He enjoyed playing golf. Howard is survived by his wife, Loretta; sons and a daughter-in-law, Ronald E. Deitz of Milan, Richard A. and Jackie Deitz of Davenport, and Steven H. Deitz of Davenport; three step-children, Connie Priest of Davenport, Shawn Priest of Peoria, and Amanda Daigneault and her husband David of Manassas, Virginia; nine grandchildren, including Breann Oechsner and Joseph Schultz who lived with Howard and Loretta; two great-grandchildren; sisters, Janice Crosse of Dewitt, Iowa, Sandra Williamson of Geneseo, and Linda Garms of Lake Park, Iowa; and a brother, Larry Porter of Moline.
