Nina Morrison, 98, of Moline, Illinois, died Friday, April 29, 2011, in Pathway Hospice at Trinity Bettendorf.
Private services will be at a later date at Rock Island National Cemetery. Trimble Funeral and Cremation Center, Moline, is assisting the family. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
The former Nina Belle Smith was born February 3, 1913, in Eastland County, Texas, the daughter of Robert Walter and Nettie (Johnson) Smith. She graduated with high honors from the University of Texas at Austin in 1938. Nina taught at Corpus Christi Jr. High in Texas until 1942. She then served as a Lieutenant in the United States Naval Reserves until her marriage to Lt. Charles S. Morrison on September 21, 1944, in Washington D.C. He died on July 7, 1967.
Nina was a past member of King?s Daughters. She enjoyed painting and reading, playing bridge, gardening, bird watching, and spending time with her family.
She is survived by her children and their spouses, James and Jane Morrison of Dunlap, Illinois, Charles and Linda Morrison of Dayton, Ohio, Janet and Rodney Corson of Osterville, Massachusetts, and Sandra and Robert Madison of Moline; grandchildren, Jenni and John Koskiewicz, and their children, Nina and Sam, Julie Morrison, Jodi and Timothy Lacy, and their son Benjamin, Jill Morrison, Christine and Dwight Crum, Bill Morrison, David Morrison, Kent and Nicole Corson, and their daughter, Audrey, Kelli Corson, Michael and Lynona Polich and their children, Jeremy, Sage, Tristan, and Emma, and Jessica and Jason Grusnick and their daughters, Keira and Cailin. She was preceded in death by her husband and twelve siblings.
