Holly Jo Bordner-Michel

Holly Jo Bordner-Michel, 58, of Rock Island, Illinois, passed away Sunday, January 8, 2017, at home.

Services are 10:00 a.m. Saturday at Good Shepherd Presbyterian Church, Rock Island, with The Reverend James Benson officiating. Burial is in Chippiannock Cemetery, Rock Island. Visitation is 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday in the Horizon Room at Trimble Funeral Home at Trimble Pointe, 701 12th Street, Moline. Cremation will take place at Trimble Crematory prior to services. Memorials may be made to Rock Island Music Association, Quad City Animal Welfare Center or Mayo Clinic Cancer Research.

The former Holly Jo Bordner was born December 12, 1958, in Moline, the daughter of Ralph and Carol (Feuser) Bordner. She earned a B.S. in biology/pre-veterinary medicine before attending the University of Illinois and earning a Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine. She married Larry Michel on November 17, 1991, in Moline.

Holly owned and operated East Moline Animal Clinic. She was a member of Good Shepherd Presbyterian Church, East Moline Rotary, ISVMA and AVMA. She was a talented musician, playing oboe for the Augustana Orchestra, and the St. Ambrose Community Orchestra. She also enjoyed knitting and quilt-making. Above all else, she loved being with her family, especially vacationing with them at their cabin in Minnesota.

She is survived by her husband, Larry; two daughters, Leah and Jennifer Michel, both of Rock Island; her mother, Carol Bordner of East Moline; and siblings, Gary (Donna) Bordner of Grand Rapids, Minnesota, Sue (Greg) Dwornikowski of Washington Crossing, Pennsylvania, and their families. She was preceded in death by her father, Ralph Bordner.
