Herbert E. Thompson

Herbert E. Thompson, Jr., 82, of Moline, Illinois, died Tuesday, December 23, 2014, in UnityPoint Health - Trinity Rock Island, Rock Island, Illinois.

There will be no services. Cremation will take place at Trimble Crematory, Moline. Trimble Funeral Home, Moline, is in charge of arrangements.

Herbert Eugene Thompson was born August 7, 1932, in Rock Island, to Herbert Sr. and Anna Murphy Thompson. He married Beverly Wockener in 1955, and they were later divorced. He served in the U. S. Army during the Korean War. He retired from Medinah Country Club, in Chicago, and had worked at John Deere Harvester Works.

Herb is survived by three children, Randy Lannen of Davenport, Iowa, Denise Guthrie and her husband Frank of Moline, and Michael Thompson of Kankakee, Illinois, five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and siblings, Hattie Timm of Rock Island, Alice Anton of Fort Collins, Colorado, and Chuck Thompson of LeClaire, Iowa. He was preceded in death by a son, Marty Lannen.
