Henry Sasame. 86, of Moline, Illinois, died Friday, January 24, 2014, in UnityPoint Health - Trinity Rock Island, Rock Island, Illinois.
There will be no services. Burial will be in Japan. Trimble Funeral and Cremation Center, Moline, is serving the family.
Henry Atushi Sasame was born March 27, 1927, in Wapato, Washington, to Takashi and Toshiko (Kikuchi) Sasame. He went to Japan with his parents as a child and returned to the United States after WW II. He graduated from Washington State University, received his Masters Degree from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, and his Ph. D. from George Washington University. He was employed by the United States Government for over 30 years as research chemist at the National Institute of Health.
He is survived by sisters, Seiko Sasame in Japan, and Betty Pau and her husband Ian of Moline; nephews, Timothy Pau and his wife Jeri of California, and Gregory Pau of Aurora, Colorado; and nieces, Kiyomi Sasame of Japan, and Mavis Shannan of Dublin, Ohio.
