Helen I. Somner, 90, of Moline, Illinois, died Saturday, November 2, 2024, at Friendship Manor, Rock Island, Illinois.

Private family services will be held to celebrate Helen’s life. Cremation will take place at Trimble Crematory, Moline, under the direction of Trimble Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to the family for a fund to be established in Helen’s memory.

The former Helen Imogene Perry was born July 2, 1934, in Sikeston, Missouri, the daughter of Clarence and Gladys (Barker) Perry. She worked for John Deere for several years before becoming a counselor and advocate at Robert Young Mental Health Center and the State Hospital.

She enjoyed quilting, crocheting, and playing Bingo. Above all else, family was the most important thing to Helen, especially her beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Helen is survived by her daughter, Carol (Chris) Kramer; two sons, Cary (Samantha) Waldrep and Randy Waldrep; son-in-law, Ron Walter; granddaughters, Mary Allmeyer, Ashley Williams, Crystal (Fulgencio) Scott-Bekan, Christina Luna, and Misty Bryson; grandson, Nathan (Tiffany) Walter; great-granddaughters, Amara Scott-Bekan, Isabela Luna, Juliette Luna, Maryssa McClary, Ashlynn Davis, Abigail (Nathan) Story, Madison Allmeyer, and Audrey Bowman; great-grandsons, Shaun Williams, Dillan Walter, Charlie Walter, Liam Walter, Aedan Scott and Roman Scott; great-great-grandsons, Wesley Story and Mateo Bowman; and a cousin, Don Barker. 

She was preceded in death by her parents, Clarence and Gladys Perry; daughters, Carla Walter and Cynthia Heath; great-grandson, Mantrel McClary; sister, Sue Perry; brother, B.J. Perry; uncle, John Barker; aunt, Cecilia Barker; and husbands, Harry Burchett, Bobby Waldrep, and John Somner.
