Helen M. Odean

Helen M. Odean, 97, of Rock Island, Illinois, died Sunday, April 14, 2024, at home. 

Services are 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, April 30, in the Horizon Room at Trimble Funeral Home at Trimble Pointe, 701 12^th Street, Moline.  Visitation is one hour prior to services.  Burial is in Rock Island National Cemetery, immediately followed by a funeral luncheon at CityView Celebrations at Trimble Pointe.

Helen Marie Lee was born January 1, 1927, in Olds, Iowa, to Howard and Ercil (Cooper) Lee.  She married Robert L. Odean on March 7, 1948, in Olds.  He died February 13, 2013.

She worked at Iowa-Illinois Gas and Electric Company.  After her boys were grown, she returned to work as a secretary for John Deere Plow Planter Works, retiring in 1985.

Helen was an active member of Fifteenth Avenue Christian Church, Rock Island, serving in many capacities over the years.  She volunteered at Trinity Medical Center, and was a former member of both Ethel Evans Circle of King’s Daughters and the Saukie Ladies Golf League.

She enjoyed volunteering, her church friends, reading, traveling, socializing with friends, and golfing.  Above all else, family was the most important thing to Helen.  She cherished the time spent at the family cabin in Minnesota.

Helen is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Greg and Sandy Odean of Dallas, Texas; three grandchildren, Lesley (Brian) Simmons, David (Kaitlin) Odean, and Michael Odean; two great-grandchildren, Avery and Austin Odean; a niece, Debbie (Rene) Moore; and a nephew, Jeff Odean.  She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; two sons, Mark and Barry Odean; brothers, Richard and Robert Lee; and a sister-in-law, Eve Lee.
