Helen M. Curtis, 91, of Moline, died Friday, 11 March 2005, at her residence.
Services are 11:00 a.m., Monday, at Riverside United Methodist Church, Moline, with the Reverend Janice Griffith officiating. Burial is at Moline Memorial Park. Visitation is from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m., Sunday, at Trimble Funeral and Cremation Center, Moline. Memorials may be made to Riverside United Methodist Church, Naples United Methodist Church, Naples, Florida, The Moline Foundation, VNHA, or Pathway Hospice.
The former Helen Miriam Yeomans was born 24 June 1913, in LaFontaine, Indiana, the daughter of Reverand Clyde and Pearl (Wright) Yeomans. She graduated from DePauw University. Helen married Ellwood F. Curtis on 12 April 1936, in Mishawaka, Indiana. Ellwood later became the Vice-Chairman of Deere and Company. He died 23 March 1993.
Helen was an active member of Riverside United Methodist Church, Moline, and North Naples United Methodist Church, Naples, Florida. She served on the board, and was a member, of the Moline Board of Education, Moline Foundation, Red Cross, Bethany Home, Opportunity Center, and the former Moline Community Chest. She was also a member of the Emma Kough Circle of Kings Daughters, the Chapter HB of P.E.O. Sisterhood, and the Alpha Phi Sorority. Helen was a member of the Outing Club, Shorthills Country Club, and the Pelican Bay Club in Naples, Florida. She was also active in the PTA and Cub Scouts. Helen enjoyed needlework, crossword puzzles, reading, and geneology.
Helen is survived by three sons and their wives, E. Count (Kathryn) Curtis, Cedar Falls, Iowa, Don H. (Salome) Curtis, Geneva, Switzerland, Barron W. (Marcia) Curtis, Davenport, Iowa; nine grandchildren and their spouses, Laura (Daniel Revelle) Curtis, Denver, Colorado, Nathan (Candace) Curtis, Sunnyvale, California, Richard (Marianne) Curtis, Ventura, California, Christopher (Nondi) Curtis, Seattle, Washington, Helen Lee Curtis, Andrew Curtis, and Margrit Curtis, all of Geneva, Switzerland, Wendy (Robert) Hopp, Ames, Iowa, and Jennifer (Josh Behn) Curtis, Witchita, Kansas; and two great-granddaugters, Ella Curtis-Revelle and Morgan Curtis. She was preceded in death by her sister, Martha Laughlin, and her brother, Eugene Yeomans.
