Helen G. Smith Webb, 82, of Rock Island, Illinois, died Sunday, February 22, 2015, at UnityPoint Health, Trinity Rock Island.
Services are 10:30 a.m. Friday at First Presbyterian Church, Milan, with The Reverend Joyce Chamberlin officiating. Burial is in Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline. Visitation is 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Thursday at Trimble Funeral Home at Trimble Pointe, 701 12th Street, Moline. Memorials may be made to the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
The former Helen Gertrude Bradley was born December 3, 1932, in Brookfield, Missouri, the daughter of Melvin A. and Mable V. (Morris) Bradley. She married Gerald E. Smith on April 22, 1950, in Linneus, Missouri. He died June 11, 1999. She later married James Webb, Sr. on December 6, 2003, in Milan, Illinois.
Helen had worked for St. Anthony's Hospital in Rock Island, the Eagle Food Center warehouse in Milan, and later Fort Armstrong in Rock Island.
She was a gifted artist, working as a seamstress, with oil paintings and crafts, and refinishing furniture. She was known for her baking ability, especially wedding cakes, and enjoyed gardening and bowling.
Helen is survived by her husband, Jim, of Rock Island; a daughter, Kathleen (Karl) Strosche of Milan; a son, Bradley (Stephanie) Smith of Collinsville, Oklahoma; step-children, Sherry Chelkowski of Boca Raton, Florida, James (Annie) Webb Jr. of East Moline, Illinois, Kenneth (Jo) Webb of Port Byron, Illinois, and Gene Webb of Milwaukee, Wisconsin; seven grandchildren, Elisabeth (Ryan) Rowe, Craig Smith, Mallory (Kenny) Knollenberg, and Julia, Rosemary, Katie, and Lana Smith; great-grandchildren, Maia and Greyson Rowe; many step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren; and a brother, Larry (Alice) Bradley of Milan. She was preceded in death by a husband, Gerald Smith, a brother, Gene Bradley, and a step-daughter, Deborah Kipp.
